Downwind ops are more common than you might think.
There are times when a downwind takeoff or landing is appropriate. Whether the airport is towered or non-towered, be prepared to handle the scenario as it exists in real life.
Keep it on the runway or...crunch!
The runway is considered a safe space, provided you can keep the aircraft on it. Directional control is a big deal. Watch what happens when the plan goes out the window and panic ensues.
